Border Patrol off-border checkpoints
For some time now, the U.S. Border Patrol has been setting up checkpoints and stopping traffic on U.S. highways inquiring on motorist's citizenship, often as far as 75 miles from any international border, citing a law known as 8 CFR 287.1. This "law" essentialy creates a "constitution free zone" 100 miles inward from all ports of entry in to the United States (see map image below). the entire state of New Hampshire falls enirely with in this zone. which means you could be on your way to work or out for a Sunday drive with your family and be stopped at one of these and asked for your citizenship status. If they feel unsatisfied with your verbal declaration, you can be pulled off to the side for further scrutiny. All this IN YOUR OWN SATE AND COUNTRY. Sounds Orewellian doesn't it. It is however happening. There was one this past spring set up on interstate 93 south, around the Lincoln area. We're all for protecting the border, but Lincoln is not the border.
