Border agents Re sentenced

Those who read the section reguarding Border Patrol checkpoints set up on U.S. highways, may be scratching your heads right about now and wondering, "wait, I thought you didn't like the border patrol". Nothing could be further from the truth. These guys do a difficult, dangerous and often thankless job. My only issue was that homeland security has these guys doing their work away from where their work should be and targeting every day traveling americans.
The agents I am refering to here were doing the job we entrusted them with and the justice system demonstrated, once again, that no good deed goes unpunished. Here is a recent article on the matter:

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean were originaly prosecuted and convicted in 2006  for the shooting of fleeing drug smuggler, Osvaldo Aldrete Davila, in the buttocks and accused of trying to cover it up. Davila was not killed and was also prosecuted and convicted. The sentence handed to the agents is the result of manditory sentencing guidlines, but we believe that they never should have been prosecuted in the first place.
We are urging the President to issue a pardon to these 2 men. We ask you do the same. this sentence sends a dangerous messege to those wgho would violate our border.
