As some may be aware, this is absolutely ILLEGAL and ammounts to creating a police state. The article states that these troops, in addition to disaster relief and assistance, "They may be called upon to help with civil unrest and crowd control...." The posse comitatus act specificly prohibits this. A few years ago, president bush signed the military commissions act, which included provisions to allow the use of United States military on home soil for police duties, but it was repealed quickly and the text of the law returned to it's original form and again, prohibiting such actions. However, the president, in signing the repeal, included a note stating that, "the executive branch didn't feel compelled" to abide by the original text". Didn't feel compelled? The PRESIDENT didn't feel compelled to obey the law. No one should stand for such arrogence in our elected servants. This is one of the outrages that the New Hampshire Refederation Act is being designed to stand against but you should contact your elected officials, both state and federal now and tell them to appose this type of things. Let the know there is no room in a free republic for these things. We support our troops whole heartedly, however we support the constitution just as much. The very same constitution the president is sworn to uphold, the same constitution the U.S. military defends. For the president or anyone to order these troops to violate U.S. law is a travesty and an insult to the men and women that serve in our armed forces and blasphemy to the name of those that died doing so.
